School Children in hats

Japan  still has some of the safest cities.    :)

Children all over Japan generally walk to the school closest to where they live.  Sometimes they walk alone, sometimes their friends  pass by their homes or maybe meet somewhere then walk together to school.   If  it is too far to walk,  they ride their bicycles, or  take the trains to school.

Around our neighborhood , I noticed, many kids wear yellow hats – and when I asked my husband, he told me the bright colored hats are worn to let the drivers know that a child is walking nearby.

  1. It’s really interesting to learn about other country’s culture and Japan is one that I will always love. Their designs are very simple yet very overwhelming. I am also awed at the respect they give to their elders. They have preserved their culture even up to this generation unlike the Filipinos who became adapted to western ways of life. But I have not given up on our kababayans yet… Someday, we too, will be recognized distinctively from the others. Mabuhay ang mga Pilipino.

    • yeyen, I just came back from Japan, my second trip there. Japan has been westernized since long ago, but they’ve always held on to their traditions, and also, adapted western traditions to their ways.

Unfortunately more recently, they are accepting ANYTHING western, Drugs, Selfishness, Bad Attitudes, Criminal behavior. As long as it’s western it’s perceived as “cool”.

I was really disappointed to see this. I’m afraid westerners’ love for Japan is also destroying it.
